Application to the Dr Donald Li Global YDM scholarship The Dr Donald Li Global Young Doctor Movement (YDM) Scholarship aims to improve access to WONCA Regional and Rural Conferences for young doctors from low- and middle-income countries. By offering financial support for conference registration, travel, visa fees, and accommodation, the scholarship enables emerging primary care professionals to take part in essential discussions, exchange knowledge, and grow their international networks. Ultimately, this programme seeks to strengthen the global primary care workforce and nurture the next generation of leaders in family medicine. In 2026, three applicants will be selected to receive a US$ 2,500 bursary each to attend one of the WONCA Regional Conferences. Eligibility Criteria Applicants must meet all of the following requirements: Country eligibility: Be a national of a country classified as a low- or middle-income economy according to the World Bank. Young doctor status: Meet the definition of a Young Doctor as per WONCA Bylaws i.e., Those in family medicine training and in the first five years of family medicine practice. Active YDM involvement : Be an active member of their regional Young Doctor Movement and provide a supporting letter from the regional YDM Lead. Commitment to primary care: Demonstrate strong motivation to attend the upcoming WONCA Regional Conference and contribute to the development of primary care and family medicine within their community or region. Post-conference reporting: After attending the conference, awardees must submit a 500-word report (approximately one A4 page) to the YDM Committee summarizing their experience and key learnings.
